What is great hair? It is simple enough for you to have the perfect cut and color. That is good hair, however, that doesn't take you far enough to be GREAT hair. Going from good to great requires a bit more finesse. Imagine a perfectly coordinated outfit, but imagine the fabrics to be wrinkly / stained and your shoes to be scuffed. It is not bad as it is a good outfit, however, it does not look its absolute best. Now imagine, this outfit was perfectly pressed, shoes polished, and perfectly accessorized with necklace / bracelet / earrings. The look is now completely crisp. This is now a great outfit. This works the same for hair. So let's talk about what makes great hair. It goes beyond what we usually think of on the surface which is just how my hair is cut and how my hair is colored. It is healthy hair, shiny hair, smooth hair, strong hair. It most importantly is BEAUTIFUL HAIR, from the inside out. I often have had clients that will shed no expense to get their hair to the desired color or length. To give you an example, think of the 'never blonde enough' client that will bleach (and bleach, and bleach) her hair to get it to a certain shade and paying no attention to how much damage it is causing. Also, the person that refuses to cut off split ends to preserve length (even though it looks like their hair went through a cheese grater). This hair DOES NOT look nice. If your hair is destroyed, it looks ratty, unkept, dull, and lifeless. On a windy day, beware, because the wind may just be strong enough to break that distressed hair right off. Having just blonde hair, red hair, long hair, wavy hair, etc. is not enough. You want to have hair that shines and grows. Healthy hair, beautiful hair, and shiny hair is the key to GREAT hair. So how do we get there? There is a way to give you the hair you have always wanted and deserved, whether it is the whitest blonde you have imagined or long mermaid hair. I believe in having no limits when it comes to hair and beauty. We can do anything we want to do, if you respect the hair gods and what they are willing to provide.
Respect Your Hair - Hair is all created differently. It grows, colors, lightens, styles, and looks differently than every one else in the world. Respecting YOUR hair and what it can do. Don't push your color and style past what your hair can sustain. If you have to wait 4 to 6 weeks before another bleach application, DO IT! It is better than having no hair because you decided to have a chemical haircut (where your hair all fell out!). If your hair can not sustain anymore heat styling, STOP! Find alternatives to styling your hair like rollers, braids, or round brushing.
Team Up With a Trained Hair Strategist - Get with an expert. God knows I have no business fixing my own car. I will get with someone who does know (AKA an expert mechanic) and get the job done right, so I don't have problems later.
